PAY STREAK WINS. IMPERIOUS HANDICAP. Finds Sloppy Going to His Liking and Beats Jim Basey in Oakland Feature. San Francisco, Cal., January 10. Pay Streak, with a light impost, proved an easy winner of the Imperious Handicap, the feature of the card at Oakland today. He fonud the sloppy going to his liking. The weight told on Jim Basey and he was unable to overtake the son of Kenilworth. Jim GafT-ney, the medium of a plunge, led all the way in the third race and beat Uoyal River and Raleigh. Eose-vnle, the second choice, quit after chasing Jim Gaff-ney. Cash on Delivery, making his first appearance and well snpiwrted, took the two-year-old dash from Millo, a youngster that also started for the first time. Lent Dale finished third, but was disqualified for fouling and placed fourth, third money being awarded to King Earl. The latter and Millo suffered through the interference. G. H. Keene sen! two winners to the post, Cisko winning for J. X, Camden and Edna Stewart In the colors of Keene Bros. Dr. Bodine was sold to C. P. Lamar by Henderson and Hogan. It. J. Mackenzie lias been called to his home in Winnipeg, Man., by pressure -of business, but will return to San Francisco within a fortnight. He is prominent in Canadian railroad circles and is interested in various other business enterprises throughout the Dominion. Yet he finds plenty of time in which to enjoy his favorite pastime, thoroughbred racing. Wliidden is galloping after having suffered with lameness for the past couple of months and Eugene Moyne expects to get him ready for the Waterhouse Cup. J. B. Dyer, a veteran turfman, is seriously ill at his home in San Jose, suffering from heart and kidney trouble. He trained Elk wood; the Suburban winner of 18SS, and other notable racers.
