NOTES OF THE TURF. Cherryola has developed lameness at Juarez. Herman Brandt is training several two-year-olds at Juarez for Barney Schreiber. Owner William Walker lias about concluded that Forehand will not do as leading jockey for bis big stable and he is looking around at Juarez for a competent rider. Trainer Lew Marion, who has been idle since he severed his connections witli I. n. AVheatcroft, will shortly leave Juarez for Kentucky to organize a select stable of young horses to campaign the coming spring and summer. An unconfirmed report is in circulation to the effect that S. C. Hildreth has had an offer to combine his stable with that of Lord Carnarvon in England and take entire charge of the management of the establishment. The AIceroys Cup at Calcutta. India, was won recently by May Fowl, with Black Buck second and Fizz third. There was a record number of starters. Lord .Hardingo, the new viceroy, attended the meeting, driving in a state procession to the course. Thu reported dcatli of jockey Lucien Lyne proves to be without foundation. His father, Stanford Lyne. writes that Lucien is alive and well and is at present traveling in Switzerland witli his mother and sisters. Mr. Lyne is at a loss to know where or how the report originated. At the annual meeting of the United Hunts Racing Association. Hon. Perry Belmont was elected president; II. S. Page, first vice-president: Henry W. Bull, second vice-president; AV. It. Grace, treasurer, and II. A. Buck, secretary. Messrs. J. Searle Barclay. Jr., W. B. Grace. A. nenry Higginson and II. B. Page were elected directors.
