PHARAOH went to the front at once and. drawing away into a long lead while rounding the far turn, had abundant speed in reserve when SCRIMMAGE challenged. The latter moved up with a rush on the stretch turn, but tired after getting to the -leader. BEN LOMOND fell back after showing early speed, but came again and outgained PREMIER in the final drive after goiug very wide on the stretch turn. SMOKER ran in forward contention from the start, moved up fast after entering the homestretch, shook off MANHEIMER after a mild drive and bad speed left to outstay STAR BLUE. The latter finished with a rush and was gaining on the winner with every stride. MANHEIMER set a fast pace, but quit when it eauio to a hard drive.
