GUICK TRIP WINS AT LONG ODDS. San Francisco, Cal.. January 17. Quick Trip, a 40 to 1 chance, proved the surprise of todays racing at Oakland when he beat Rocky OHrien in the opening dash. Hie McManus horse was regarded as much the best in the race and went to the post at 4 to 5. .Away well, he led most of the way, but Quick Trip closed with a rush and beat him handily. Zoroaster, another outsider, was third. Ymir. starting for the first time, won the two-year-old race from Sleepland and Presumption. The feature race resulted in victory for Rosevale, which caught Rig Stick, the pacemaker, tiring in the final sixteenth. Southern Gld led lies and .Tes-sup Hum home in the third. Rosamo pulled up lame and his entry will bo refused pending a report from the otticial veterinarian as to his condition. Southern Gold was bid up from 00 to 00 by X.
