RUSHING LEGISLATION IN CALIFORNIA. San Francisco. Cal.. January 21. Arasee scored another victory over Eddie Dale when he won the Cadmns Handicap at Oakland today. This race was the feature of a good .card -and was witnessed-by a. large crowd. Although Arasee had beaten the three-year-old the last time they met, Eddie Dale again ruled favorite. Rosevale made most of. the early pace, but when the stretch was reached Arasee Assumed command and, drawing away, won handily from Eddie Dale. Fine weather favored the racing, but the track was muddy. Oakland added another pnrse to his credit when he led Millo and Ymir home In the two-year-old dash. Fort Johnson was a heavily backed ravorlte for the fifth race and got up in time to beat Coppertown. the pacemaker. Gen. Thomas McGregor, a retired cavalry officer, Is anxious to have Congress consider the purchase of thoroughbred stallions for the army, and with this in view will try and interest the California congressmen in the project. General McGregor is in this city on a visit. According to a report from Sacramento the Walker-Young bill will be passed by the assembly and senate next week and it is expected that Governor Johnson will allix his signature within a day or two. The bill reads that it shall take effect from and after Its passage. No fight will be made in the assembly. There is a chance that an amendment providing for pari-mutuels may be introduced when the matter comes up in the senate. Jack Atkin, the well-known layer, has bought Amon from George W. Berry for ,500. Ho will take the crack youngster to New York to race. R. J. Fan-is bought four of the horses offered at auction today by T. W. Flynn at low prices.- He paid 5 for Darknight. 0 for Agreement. 5 for Point Lace and 50 for Nettle Traver. W. Rogers secured Waponoca for, 10. Lotta Creed and Home Run were bid in. Henry Sbaw bought Anna Virginia and Ada Sain from Earl Linnell. John H. Sheehan. a notoriously bad actor at the post, has been placed on the schooling list.
