JOHN ROBERT began slowly but, moving up fast, caught the pacemaker well down the stretch and, while hard ridden, won going away. FRITZ EMMETT came with a tremendous burst of speed at the end. but too late. DEADWOOD ran well and hung on gamely, outstaying WAR JIG for third place. VREELAND ran well and was hard ridden, but could not overtake the flying leader. BEACH SAND closed a big gap and, coming with a rush through the stretch, outgamed WALDORF BELLE through the last sixteenth. DANGEROUS MARCH ran a dull race. THE ROBIN showed early speed. MARCHMONT ran close up from the start and forged to the front In the stretch, but was overtaken by DORANTE in the final stride. DORANTE came through fast next to the rail and, with the two running like a team through the final fifty yards, the judges could not separate them at the end. TABOO ran ia improved form and finished gamely. GREEN SEAL set a hot pace for three-quarters, but quit badly, as usual. GENERAL MARCHMONT. entered for 1911.sh00. was bid up to .505 by W. OVERTON into subjection in the first, half and hung on gamely to the end. V. T. OVERTON outpaced the others early and, after being passed, kept close up and came again with a resolute final effort. DENEEN closed a big gap and came fast from the rear in the stretch into a game third. MARSAND ran a good race, but tired in the final strides. ACUMEN ran well to the stretch and quit.
