FLORIDA FAVORITES IN ECLIPSE. Public Choices Make Poor Showing at Jacksonville Guy Fisher Wins Feature Race, Jacksonville. Fla., January 01. The followers of favorites are having anything but smooth sailing at Moneriot" Park. During the last live days of racing only five favorites have won, which means that the system followers have liecn swamped. Rosshanip-ton was the only winning choice this afternoon, following a sequunce of eleven beaten favorites. The program offered this afternoon . showed a decided improvement over that of yesterday. Some fields of good class went to the iost and keen contests resulted. A mile handicap which was run as the fourth race, was tho feature race of the card and four of the nine that went to the ;ost finished in a bunch, the winner turning up in Guy Fisher, which beat Master Robert a neck. Mary Davis was third a head away and a scant length in advance of Jack Parker. The latter was the pacemaker into the homestretch, where Guy Fisher took command and retained his advantage to the end. Master Robert was probably best. He was in a pocket next to tho rail until the last fifty yards, where Bell pulled to the outside of the leader and at the finish was gaining at every stride. Aldrian was a distant trailer most of the way. The two-year-old race went to one of W. Shields entry. Drexel Hill, which beat Gold Mine a length. Drexel Hill was ridden by A. Lang. It was tho lads first mount for Mr. Shields and he rode an energetic race, saving ground all the way and finishing with determination. W. H. Ford was made tho medium of heavy support In this race, but was never a factor. Stanley Davis, who had the mount on Rosshampton in the closing dash, was suspended by the judges for one week for rough riding. RosshamjitonT had the extreme outside position at the post and when the break came he naturally bore over towards the inside. There was some crowding at the first turn in which Louis Reil was the principal sufferer and the officials held Davis responsible for the uiixup, heneo the ruling. Frank Regan, owner of Ardri. which pulled up lame in the sixth race yesterday, reports that the horse bowed one of his tendons: which means that he will have to be retired for awhile. A. Weber, owner of Console. Edwin. L. and others that J. S. Ward is racing here, arrived from Kausas City this morning.
