LOUISVILLE STAKE VALUES INCREASED. Col. Matt J, Winn Makes Important Announcement at Juarez Concerning Churchill Downs Racing-, El Paso. Tex.. February 7. That the spring meeting at Churchill Downs. Louisville, will be the greatest iu the history of that famous course is foreshadowed by the magnificent list of stakes just announced by Manager M. J. Winn. All of the values have been increased and a new one, the Churchill Downs Handicap, added, making twelve stakes in all. During Colonel Winns absence from Louisville, a premature announcement was recently made, giving a list of the old stakes with the values of last year. As soon as the error was detected, however, the stake blanks were immediately cancelled and withdrawn. Five of the old stakes, it will be remembered, were of the ,000 added variety, while four others were of ,000 guaranteed value. Tlie new list, just issued, shows that all of these have been changed. Those of ,000 added have been increased to ,500 guaranteed value, while those which were formerly of ,000 guaranteed value have been increased to ,500. The Churchill Downs Handicap, with a value of ,500, has been added to the list. The Kentucky Derby for 1012 and the Kentucky Oaks for the same year remain as formerly, 1911.sh,000 and ,500 respectively.
