TAMPA DISQUALIFICATIONS FREQUENT. Tampa, Fla., February 10. The disqualification of 15. J. Swanner after he had finished first in the third race was the main incident of todays racing. Under the Southern Jockey Club rules the judges are vested with discretionary powers and inasmuch as Chess, which finished second, was the victim of B. J. Swanners interference, they gave Chess the purse and placed B. J. Swanner second. Heavy support for Chief Hayes, coupled with a rumor that Irvin would use a battery on him, caused the judges to examine closely the riders equipment. Before the horses left the paddock the boys person was searched. Nothing out of the ordinary was found, hut the horse showed an improved performance. After his victory E. J. Giidersleeve bid him up 0 over lii.s entered price of 00 and got him. Ladies day and a race for gentlemen riders accounted for a big attendance. Mr. Whitley, on John Garner, won the amateur race and was awarded flic horse Niblick, winner of the Hunts lurse last Monday. J. 13. Sweeney added Tennessee Boy and Eventide to his stable today by purchasing thorn from W. Gerst at private terms. Jockeys Hoffman and Donovan were each suspended three days by the starter for disobedience at the post. Jockey Davenport was suspended for three days by the judges for rough riding on B. J. Swanner.
