ROUND THE WORLD IS OAKS. WINNER. W. G. Yankes Crack Filly Scores Easy Victory in Juarez Fixture, With Marjorie A. Second. El Paso, Tex., March 0.- One of the most brilliant programs or the Juarez meeting, including the running of the Oaks, an allowance race at three-quarters of a mile., with J. R. . Wuinwrights lleet marc, Trance, as an entrant, and a meeting between Cash ou Delivery, one of the best California two-year-olds transferred here, and the local champion. Calis.se. in the opening race of the day, served to attract one of the largest crowds of the meeting to Terrazas Park yesterday. Ideal weather and track conditions prevailed and it was expected that records would be broken, but numerous withrawals from the principal races left the contention so weak that the winners were not compelled to extend themselves except in the two-year-old dash, which was marked by a furious drive between Calisse and Cash on Delivery, with the former victorious by a head. The Juarez Oaks, for three-year-old fillies, was easily the feature of the days racing and attracted a small but select lield. . Round the World was generally conceded to have the race at her mercy, but the liberal odds of one to two was laid against her chances. She never left the issue in doubt, opening a big gap at once .and cantering in front the entire distance. The appearance of prance jvlth the light impost of 10S pounds frightened most of the contention out of the third race, which on this account resolved itself into a procession throughout, the favorite winning unextended. The talelit reaped a harvest through the success of four favorites. The first mile and a quarter race of the present season was an additional feature of the davs sport. While the field was of ordinary caliber. Miss Caithness, tins winner, succeeded in lowering the track record of 2:095 made by German Silver last year to 2:0S. Calisse, having recently -been turned over to Mose Newman to train, was coupled in the betting with Closer, from the stable of -J. F. Newman. For an off-day, with an ordinary card, a good-sized crowd turned out this afternoon. .The principal attraction was a handicap at seven-eighths, in which Enlield ruled a strong favorite. It was no easy task for him to win, as Beach Sand was a resolute contender ; all the way aiid forced the favorite to do his lrst; Forniful rnciiujiwat; a feature of the afternoohTfdurfrivorifesanjl- a-lieavily-hacked second "choice sending IneTthlclit home in a happy frame of mind. TV 11. Ryan succeeded in putr ting a good thing over in June W., winner of the third race. Thisr was one "oT "the most successfully conducted conns of- the" " nieetln"... Tljcre. was little or no support for ;the"lIUy" heV. bt she was well backed elsewhere. Jockey G. Garner, after an enforced idleness caused by a severe attack of tonsilitls, resumed riding today. The finish of the last race proved sensational, the judges being unable to separate Bad News amh Little Friar, making it the second dead heat of the meeting. But for the lireaking of a stirrup. Little Friar would undoubtedly have been returned the winner.
