DESCOMNETS SAVES THE DAT PONS RACER ONLY FAVORITE TO SCORE AT MONCRIEF PARK. Aspirin Beats White Wool in Feature Race of Card Two Horses Change Hands After Final . Race New Layers in Line. Jacksonville, Fla., March 9. Pleasant weather and a well-balanced card proved a great magnet for local race-goers today and another big crowd witnessed the sport at Moncrief Park. The fields in nil six of the races were well matched and the task of picking the winners was a difficult one. Deseom-nets, the only winning favorite, scored over Ella Bry-son by a nose in the third race, a seven-eighths allowance, affair. The finish in this race was exceedingly close, the first three fighting it out .throughout the homestretch, with the winner in doubt until the olllcial placing was displayed. Aspirin won the mile feature race, in which he licat the good three-year-old, White Wool, by a couple of lengths. The latter was an odds-on favorite and was heavily supported, but was driving to the utmost to beat Leamenee a neck for second place. The two-year-old race went to Arany, which beat Crif by a length and a half. The latter probably would have won had he escaped interference on. the homestretch, where he was sharply cut off and knocked back. The only run-up of the afternoon came after Casque beat Wander half a length in the closing dash. . He was boosted 00 over his entered price of 00 by Sam Louis and was retaiued by his owner. J. W. Schorr retaliated by claiming Wander for 25. Dress Parade II., a starter in the same race, was claimed by F. Harlow for 25. Mr. Barlow was represented in the race by Grecian Bend.
