MARKED ACTIVITY IN JUAREZ RING. Gladys Louise Only One to Make Good of Several Horses on Which Plunges Are Made. El Paso, Tex., March 10. Although class was noticeable by its absence on the program provided for today at Juarez, a fine erowd was in attendance and enjoyed a good days sport, the racing being of the fonnful kind and the finishes well contested in a majority of instances. The most promising race of the day was marred to some extent by the withdrawal of Al Muller .and Quartermaster. Hobby Hoyer was made a strong favorite, which confidence he justified by winning after a furious struggle with Dr. Smoot, the two running like a team throughout. There was marked activity in the ring today, heavy plunges being made on the chances of Dixie Dixon. Gladys Louise, .Marigot and The Pippin. Gladys Louise was the only One of the quartet that succeeded in making good. The success of three favorites and a heavily backed second choice made the day u-profitable one for the followers of public form. Jockeys T. Smith and McCullough were suspended by starter Cassidy for attempting to beat the barrier Smith in the fourth race and McCullough in the fifth. Jockey tiny Garner, whose riding was expected to overshadow that of the; boys riding here, has been a distinct disappointment thus far. He has not been in the best of health shire arriving here, which accounts in a measure for the slump in his form.
