STEPFATHER ONLY SUCCESSFUL FAVORITE. Tampa, "Fla., Marcli 10. Ladies day. the final one of the season, was rcspdnslble for it big attend- I dance at the West Tampa course this afternoon. The .racing was again: replete with upsets, all the favorites failing "with the exception of Stepfather. I The latter engaged in the race for gentlemen riders, i featuring the card, and won in decisive fashion. His owner-rider, Mr. Alderman, .received an ovation. The main upset of the afternoon came in the opener when Watch Me, at one to five, and the shortest-priced favorite of the meeting, failed to laud any portion .of the purse. Notices were posted during the afternoon informing horsemen that there would be an Extension of the racing for three days next week, with a possible further extension. Most of the purses will be of 00 value. Condition books for the spring racing at King Edward Island and Delorimier Park were received by horsemen today, and many have signified their 1 intention of shipping to these Canadian points later on. Dick Rose and Friend Virgil have terminated their 1 racing careers, having been sold for general pur poses and shipped to farms. Rodman pulled up lame after the finish of the second race and probably will not again be started until fall. Judge Burke and Secretary Smitli will spend several days at Jacksonville if there is an interval between closing time here and the opening at Peu-sacola.
