LATONIA IMPROVEMENTS IN PROGRESS. Cincinnati, O.. March 13. Work on the improvement of the Latonia racing enclosure began today and opening dav this spring will find quite a transformation at the Kenton County course. The grandstand will get a thorough overhauling and boxes and reserved seats will be placed at the end nearest the clubhouse. The betting shed will be moved back, so that the increased heighth of ten feet will not shut off the view of the occupants of scats in the lower end of the stand. The betting shed will be brought up to the grandstand and will bo altered and connected witli the paddock by a uew covered walk. The oflices of the club and of the pari-mutuel department will take up the entire lower end of the shed. New contrivances will show the total amount of monev wagered on each horse, straight, place and show and those that care to figure can then without anv trouble check up the official figures. For-merlv the number of tickets of different denominations were shown, but this made it necessary for one to resort to multiplication and addition before figuring on the correctness of the announced value of winning tickets. - AH of the stands will be repainted, and this includes the clubhouse. A new automobile shed will be built, so that all machines can remain under cover. The stables will also be repaired and about 1,500 loads of sand and loam will be spread on the track proper. Latonia will look splc and span after all this work Is completed, and nature will do the rest for the surroundings.
