GRAY STABLE IS SUSPENDED JUDICIAL ACTION FOLLOWS UNUSUAL ANTICS OF SPES NOSTRA AT MONCRIEF PARK. Filly Drops Dead After Conducting Herself in Unruly Manner in the Paddock and at the Barrier Star Jasamine Takes Stake Race. Jacksonville, Flo., March 13. Thomas C. McDowell, owner, breeder and presiding steward at Mon-cricf Park, furnished tlie winner of todays feature race, tlie Fountain of Youth Selling Stakes, a dash of four and a half furlongs for two-year-olds, in his handsome filly, Star Jasainine, which beat American Girl half a length in a driving finish. Star Jasainine -was favorite in the betting and was ridden by T. Kocrner. There were eight starters, -with Gold Mine and American !irl collided as the L. I.e Blond entry. The latter, showing keen speed in the first quarter, dashed into a two-lengths lead. Entering the homestretch she went a bit wide aud this enabled Star Jasainine to dash to the front. The latter, although tiring, lasted to stall off American Girl, which came again. There was a delay of sixteen minutes at the post in the closing event. Spes Nostra came out of the paddock full of action and on her way to the barrier, run into the fence and bruised jockey Gross leg. Tlie latter was lifted out of the saddle and jockey Hufuagel was substituted. It was with some difficulty that the filly was led from the paddock to the track. She was exceedingly fretful, and when they were sent away. Hufuagel pulled up and trailed the field. She made an additional circuit of the track after the finish, and when irufuagel pulled up on the turn into, the backstretch. he promptly dismounted. Directly he got out of the saddle the tilly went to her knees and then fell over dead. The incident created some excitement aud a ruling was promptly issued by tliu judges which brought suspension to the stable of Guy Gray, and a recommendation made that his license as a trainer be revoked.
