PILOTS QUITTER TO VICTORY JOCKEY E. MARTIN BREAKS UNSUCCESSFUL STREAK AT JUAREZ TRACK. W. T. Anderson Sees One of His Cast-offs Win Raco in Which He Backs Another Contender Difficulty in Filling Better Class of Races, EI Paso, Tex., March 15. -The usual mid-week crowd was treated to some good sport at Juarez today, the races being well contested throughout and the finishes close and exciting. Students of form suffered somewjiat, as but two of the public selections won, outsiders carrying off a majority of the purses. Speculation was brisk in the ring. Starter Mars Cassidy made official announcement today that he would officiate at the barrier at Jamestown, Lexington, Latonla and Louisville the coming season, haviug entered into these engagements because of the uncertainty of raeing on the New York tracks, where he started for several years. Cobleskill, a consistent racer here, fell hi the early stages of the first race, breakiug his shoulder and was destroyed. His rider, J. Rcid, escaped injury. The vagaries of racing luck were well illustrated when Dixie Dixon, sold recently by AAr. T. Anderson for $"00, scored in the second race, defeating among others Don Antonio, on which Mr. Anderson had a wager of several hundred dollars. Jockey E. Martin finally broke the run of ill-luck which has been following him since his arrival hero by winning the first race Avith Joe Moser. a notorious quitter which lie nursed to victory in skillful fashion. The departure of some of the local horses fur Churchill Downs has somewhat reduced the number of available horses at Juarez aud has the effect oC making it a difficult matter to fill the better class of races .with the usual number of contestants. A terrific plunge developed on Hush Money in the second raec, he being hacked from 50 to 1 to 8 to 1. Ho showed good speed for. part of the way, but got no portion of the purse.
