TAMPA RACING TO CONTINUE INDEFINITELY. Tampa, Fin.. .March 20. While Blue Tie and Hiccough were the only proMounced favoyites to win tills afternoon, the layers experienced the worst loss in weeks. Only a select few were the gainers. The public, like the bookmakers, lost heavily. One or two of the contests were interesting and .aroused enthusiasm, but the majority were of the listless sort, the outcome being foreshadowed when the fields turned into the stretch. Chess, which failed at Moncricf Park, made a show of her opposition and won cninnuiudingly at a good price. There was unusuallv strong support for Hiccough in the closing dash and she gave her backers but little concern after going a hair mile. Mack" Phillips uncovered a good thing in the first-time starter here, Mazard, which won the opening dash. The filly ran in the name of J. T. Deavers, and should account for more purses in this section. Telegrams were sent today informing horsemen at Moncricf Park that the racing here- would continue as long as there was enough horses to fill the entries. A series of losing days for the books may bring about a change in this plan. Jockey E. Grillin was suspended by the starter for two days for disobedience at the post and will leave tomorrow for Jacksonville. The lirst week or the extended period of racing here resulted in a slight profit to the management, reduced operating expense being- the main factor in bringing it about. If the same conditions continue until April 1, it is likely that a further continuance of the racing will be announced. J. Bryan. Loo Christy anil E. Brown shipped to Kentucky yesterday. J. Kern purchased Stafford at Jacksonville and brought him here for the rest of the meeting.
