ALL READY AT JAMESTOWN EASTERN RACING SEASON SCHEDULED TO OPEN TODAY AT VIRGINIA COURSE. Weather Is Pleasant, But Track Will Be Heavy From Downpour of Monday Indications Point to Successful Meeting. Norfolk, Va., April 4. Tho spring meeting of tho Jamestown Jockey Club, which is scheduled to open tomorrow, promises to be most successful. Late trains from the north a.nd south have brought largo delegations of race-goers and all tho hotels are crowded. There are a couple of thousand followers of the sport already here and more are due to arrive tomorrow morning. Starter Mars Cassidv did not arrive tonight, but lie will be liere earlv tomorrow. Frank J. Bryan, Herman Conklin, Fred Gerhardy, Edward Cole aud the; other officials are on hand. The track, although heavy, promises to be much improved for the oponing day. the weather having cleared. Tho indications are for bright sunshine; on Wednesday. The steeplechase course has leeu remodeled and put in good condition and the jumping events will be one of the strong attractions here this spring. There are alwut 450 horses here and the overflow have been stabled at the exposition park about si mile and a ciuarter from the course. Tho. horse special from Jacksonville arrived about five oclock this evening. All the horses shipped well. Several of them are carded to start in the different races tomorrow. The two sprint races filled epeeially well, but light fields are named to go in the races which call for a journev of a mile or over. Tho jockeys who have taken out licenses and are here to ride include E. Sweeney, Goldstein, Cross, Troxler, Ivillingsworth, L. McCabe. J. M. Casey, E. Dugan. Taplin, Pickens, M. Bell. Olsen, Dunn, Byrne, Wingtield, J. Mclntyre, Gasklns.. Page, Adams, Gullett, J. Callahan. Quiulan. Loftus, Fain, .1. Bergen. Warrington, Soffell and W. Allen.
