HILBRETH STRENGTHENING HIS STABLE. Reaches Montreal with Greater String of Racers Than He Had at Toronto. Montreal. Que.. June 1. — The fifth annual spring meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club, which begins on Saturday, promises to eclipse in point of Importance any ever given at the Blue Bonnets course. There are more ami better horses stabled at the track than a! any time since the opening year. Included in the list are the stables of S. C. Hil-dreth, R. F. Carman, R. T. Wilson. Mrs. L. A. Livingston, Angus! Belmont. Thomas Clyde. T. Mon-alian, Quincy Stable and John W. Schorr. The Canadian owners are also well represented. The club baa been extremely liberal in the amount of added money to the overnight events and the prospects for good sport are exceedingly bright. The Hildreth. Wilson and Belmont strings have been here for two or three days, while the big stable that R. F. Carman is racing got in from Kentucky this morning. His string numbers thirty two head. Jockey O. Archibald came along with the Carman stable, c. H. Shilling and Fddie Dugan arrived last night from Toronto on their motorcycles and enjoyed the trip immensely, say Garner, who is doing the lightweight riding for August Belmonts stable, arrived yesterday. John Powers is due to arrive tomorrow with Top Note. The management of the ring is in charge of Mortimer Mahonev and drawings will be made daily. Hildreth, instead of depleting his string, is replenishing it. Behest has obtained second call on the services of jockey Eddie Swicney and the lad will do his lightweight riding. William Burttschell has arrived from Fort Brie, where he went at the conclusion of the Woodbine meeting. He reports his horses in good condition. The good sprinter Monty fix will not be taken up until fall.
