CANADIANS RACING SUCCESS IN JAPAN. Toronto. Ont.. June 1. — Clarence Fletcher, a native of Ibis city who is located in Japan and who last year wen the oldest and most coveted racing trophy in Japan, the Kinpeiois Cup. with an Australian bred mare called Woodbine, this year repeated with another mare, by Regained — Simmering, bred in Australia and named Blue Bonnets, after another Canadian race course. No one had ever before been abb l,i win the cup two years it succession, except the Tokyo millionaire. Hatcliilaro Iliranuina. and it cost him a great deal of money, as on the occasion of his first success he bought the marc. Melbourne, for 10,008 yen. and the following year he paid 27.0oo yen for Lady Yoyou. which landed lie trophy lor him. Mr. Fletcher does business on a more UMtdest and practical scale. Blue Bonnets had not raced satisfactorily for her owner last year, and Mr. Fletcher bought her at auction for a moderate sum. In his bands sbe has won live firsts and four seconds since last June, and now has crowned her career by taking the Emperors Cup.
