INTERNATIONAL ARMY RACES PROPOSED, London. .Tune 27. — If the 1nited States government supports tile project there will be an international steeplechase meeting between officers of the armies of the world at Sandov.n Park next summer. Perry Belmont, president of the National Hunt Association, savs that be has been working for it for some lime. He talked with Charles P. Taft. brother of Hie .resident, and William H. Moore on the subject at the olympian Horse Show this wc-k and they I will lend their hearty support. The Sandown Park directors will offer substantial prizes. Mr. Belmont lias obtained promises from several Euroi ean countries to compete. Lord Suffolk is cooperating in England, and, de| endout on the attitude of the United States authorities, there is every prospect of brilliant success. Mr. Belmont thinks that American officers have an excellent chance of winning. He says: •The project is part of the continued effort to place American cavalry horses on a plane with the mounts of European cavalrymen." He says he is not disappointed at the showing made by American officers at the horse show which cloned Saturday, and is coaddeat they will do much lietter next time. The result shows, he says, that Improvement is accessary in the breed and training of Americas cavalry horses.
