JUMPING RACES A FEATURE AT WINDSOR. Detroit. Mich.. July 3. — The steeplechase course at Windsor is being put in readiness for the meeting which is scheduled to open July 15. The races through the field have always been a feature of the Windsor meetings and the course is kept in the best possible condition for those picturesque contests. The two handsomest steeplechase courses in the Dominion are at Windsor and at Toronto. The regular jumps and the Uverpools at these two points are most beauttfullj arranged, while the field is kept free from dangerous obstacles aud as level as the natural grassy ground will permit. Interest in the jumpers on the Canadian circuit tiiis season being as keen as ever, the steeplechase events at Windsor during the July meeting will be more perfectly staged, if possible, than ever. The hedges around each of Hie jumps at the present lime are in a slate of perfection, so far as evenness and color are concerned, while Ihe huge basins- at the water obstacles have been freshly painted and will present the aspect of clear sparkling pools when the water is turned into them. It is the intention to have a steeplechase race on each card during the meeting. Stable room has already been asked for thirty jumpers and the applicants represent the leading v lers of Jumping thoroughbreds from the states of Maryland, Kentucky, Virginia and New York and throughout tin- Dominion of Canada.
