MADMAN IS AGAIN A WINNER. H. G. Bedwclls Hasting Horso Carries Top Weight to Victory in Butte Handicap. Butte, Mont., July 27. A well-filled card -with a handicap at five and one-half furlongs as the feature, attracted a bumper crowd to the races here today. Those in attendance profited on the afternoons outing, as three of their choices succeeded in winning. There -was no lack of backing for the other winners. Madman, from the Bedwcll stable, "was returned winner of the feature race, in which he carried top weight of 122 pounds. He set a hot pace all the -way and won easily. Waner, fresh from a series of victories on British Columbia courses, was one of the best backed good things of the season and was an easy winner of the second race. The third race, at five furlongs, for two-year-olds, furnished one of the most exciting contests seen here in. some time. Mimorioso and Three Links ran like a team for the entire journey and the former scored through, the superior finishing ability of jockey Rooiicy, who outrode McEwen in the final stride. G. W. Berry sold this morning to F. G. Grefer the two-year-olds Sidon. Vimur and Ymir. Selling race activities still continue. F. W. Doss hid ui Force, winner of the fifth race to 00 and Seveufull, winner of the closing race was advanced to 00 by W. B. Carson. Both horses were retained by their respective owners.
