PRINCE AHMED BREAKS A BUTTE RECORD. Butte, Mont.. July 2S. Prince Ahmed, the star of the Bedwell string, made his initial appearance here in the feature event of this afternoons program, an allowance race at three-quarters of a mile, and before a crowd of fully 3,000 patrons of the sport, lowered the track record for the distance to 1:12. He was at no time fully extended and won in an extremely easy manner after the speedy Myles OConnell had set the pace in the early racing. The ring suffered another disastrous day because of the success of live public choices, all heavily backed. J. L-. Hildenbrandt and General Manager Sholton of the Coeur dAlene Fair and Racing Association arrived today to consult with Judge Frank St. D. Skinner regarding the meeting at the new Idaho track, and announced that tlie minimum purse value would be 00 during their meeting beginning September 11. The ride that jockey J. Mclntyre gave Myles OConnell in the feature race of the day displeased thb judges to such an extent that the race is under investigation.
