CUBAN VENTURE ASSUMING SHAPE. Buffalo, N. Y., July 28. Word comes from II. D. Brown that good progress is being made on the new racing plant that he is building at Havana, Cuba. The ground has been all graded and it will not be long before work is commenced on the stables and stands. Tills plant, when finished, will be one of the most complete that has ever been seen oil this continent. II. 1. Brown has with him as a partner in the venture S. II. Lansdale, a wealthy American capitalist. Mr. Brown and his associate have made up their minds to leave nothing undone to make Cuban racing a success. Upon his return north Mr. Brown will take up the task of compiling the Btake conditions. He lias already engaged officials whoso participation assures first class and clean racing. A. B. Dado lias been engaged as starter at a large salary. Joseph Murphy, who was the presiding judge at Jacksonville last winter, will serve in the same capacity at Havana, with P. A. Brady as his associate. Manager Browns original idea of having three stewards, one selected by the association and two by the horsemen, which was such a success at Jacksonville, will be carried out nt Havana and it is likely that W. P. Burch will be one of the stewards, while the horsemen will select the others. Joseph McLennan will be Manager Browns assistant as racing secretary, which position be filled acceptably at Jacksonville last nelson, diaries C. Campau, who was the financial ecretary at Moncreif Park, will holi the same position at Havana.
