NOTES OF THE TURF. When the Sanford Iiorses were shipped away from Amsterdam to the sales ring at Buffalo early in the week, not a wheel was turned in the great carpet mills of that place. This was by order of Gen. Stephen Sanford to emphasize the harshness of the puritanical legislation that prevents the racing of the product of Ilurricana Stock Farm in the Empire State. The racing interests are actively engaged in preparing "another light in behalf of the Gittins bill when tlie Legislature reconvenes in September. They feel confident that they will have enough votes to put the measure through the Assembly, but whether Governor Dix will affix his signature is a problem that the racing men do not attempt to solve. New York Sun. That no attempt to race at Jacksonville, Fla.. will be made next winter was the decision reached Thursday bv the directors of tlie Florida Live Stock and Agricultural State Fair Association, under whose auspices the meetings at Moncrief Park were held. Their action sets at rest reports that they would test the anti-lHtting law passed by the last Legislature. What disposition will be made of the track-lias not iKen disclosed.
