MUSKOGEES INAUGURAL MEETING. Muskogee, Okla., August 4. The inaugural meeting of the Muskogee Jockey Club will open here tomorrow, to continue until and including August 20. Virtually all the horses that have been racing at other Oklahoma points are here and the outlook is for a successful meeting. Tlie promoters of the venture are planning for an even more pretentious meeting later on in the year. The ring will be opeu to all reputable layers and the management will do its utmost to make things pleasant and agreeable for horsemen and others, who patronize tlie meeting. It is hoped to eventually make of Muskogee an attractive racing point and this will be constantly in mind in the shaping of the local jockey clubs policies. The racing will be in the hands of competent otlicials. E. C. Smith will serve as presiding judge aud Arthur McKnight will ilo the starting. Judging from tho interest that local people are taking in the meeting, oni; would think that the Saratoga meeting had been transferred here. Owing to a heavy rain yesterday morning, the track will not be at its best for the opening of the meeting. The following bookmakers are here: F. A. Mc-Evoy, Al S. Valentine, O. W. Perry, Mark Moore, J. N. Tholl, J. B. Morris, John Roso and Robert Allison. The management of the jockey club lias been liberal in expenditures for advertising and improvements in an effort to make this meeting the best ever given on a half-mile track in tlie west.
