GOSSIP FROM BLUE GRASS REGION. Lexington, Ky., August 4. Robert Davies, the Canadian turfman for whom Charles T. Patterson is now training a good string of thoroughbreds, completed his purchases of yearlings here this afternoon and departed for his home in Toronto, leaving trainer Patterson to superintend the shipment of the youngsters Monday. Mr. Davies lKiught five eolts and fillies for an aggregate of ,000 as follows: From Charles W. Moore, chestnut colt by Mcflee White Plume. This is tho pick of the collection and trainer Patterson says he is the grandest individual he saw during his two weeks inspection of purchasable yearlings in tlie blue grass region. From Milton Young, chestnut colt by Peep oDay Ponurv: from Hardy Stanhope, bay colt by Marta Santa Baltimore Belle; from Dr. J. I. Neet. brown colt bv Cesarion East India: from John E. Madden, chestnut colt by Ogden Star of the West and bay filly by Ogden Linda Lee. The directors of the Kentucky- Association have been called to meet next Monday to definitely decide upon dates, stakes, purses and plans for the fall meeting which will open either September 10 or IS aud continue eight or nine days.
