MONTREAL STAKES FILL SATISFACTORILY. Entries Received Exceed Number for Any Previous Fall Meeting at Bluo Bonnets Track. Montreal. Que. August 9. The entries for the eight stakes to lie run during the fall meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club. September i to September Hi, have all arrived. There are close to seventy nominators this fall, which is far in advance of the record of any previous fall meeting. The stakes have all filled well and it is evident there will be many newcomers. Three of the eight stakes are for Canadian horses, one being for Canadian-owned ilnd the other two for Province-breds. Of the live open events, three arc to be run on the Hat and the others through the field. There have been 200 applications for stabling accommodations already, although the opening of the meeting is more than a month away". There will be room for all who wish to come. Many improvements have been made during the summer that are sure to be appreciated by the owners and trainers. The steeplechase entries show a big increase over last autumn. About thirty are named in the Slrath-coua Stakes, which is an increase of live. This year will see the lirst running of the Ilendrie Memorial as a stake fixture and it has attracted a better class of jumpers than ever raced at Bluo Bonnets. There has been an increase in the values of the purses, as well as in the stakes, and this will prove a big attraction. The ring will again be in charge of Mortimer Mahoney. The program book is in the hands of the printers and will be issued shortly. The first of the arrivals for the fall meeting is the string owned by Mrs. L. A. Livingston. In this lot Is included Lovetie, which was on the shelf at Cobourg all summer as a result of having contracted a cold during the spring meeting at Toronto. This horse has been going along slowly for the past month. He will be fitted for this and the Toronto meetings. Trainer Fcakes is giving the Livingston horses Tegular work at the track each morning. Starting on Monday owners and trainers will be able to school their horses at the barrier at Blue Bonnets each morning. This will give the local owners a good chance to educate their nominees for the Kings Plate and the Provincial Nursery Stakes.
