MEXICAN It ACINGTO EXPAND PLANS MATURING FOR CONTINUOUS SPORT IN SOUTHERN REPUBLIC. Announcement of Details Expected During Coming Month Juarez Winter Meeting to Continue in Conjunction with Racing at Other Points. Louisville, Ky., August 14. Senor Alexandre de la Arena, one of Mexicos foremost patrons of racing, returned here Saturday and spent several hours at the Now Ixiuisville Jockey Club course in com-pany witli AI. .1. Winn before proceeding on to Mexico. Senor do la Arena went to Now York to visit .lames Hutlor, who is interested financially ill racing at Juarez, and spent more than a week with Mr. Butler at the latters New York country home. He participated in a number of polo matches and on his return to Mexico lie will buy twenty-live ponies for Mr. Butlers polo staldes and have them shipped from Texas and Mexico to New York. Mr. Ilutlcr accompanied Senor de la Arena west as far as Cleveland, where they were met by Colonel Winn and entertained by Price McKinney, who is also linancially interested in the Juarez racing enterprise. Senor de la Arena was a bit reticent as to the business phases of his trip to New York and Cleveland, lie did, however, divulge that in a short time racing would go on in Mexico throughout all the year and that the tracks operated in Mexico City and other points, would he conducted in conjunction willi .the Jockey Club Juarez winter meeting. What the exact plans are for future racing in the interior of Mexico will be made public in the next thirty days. It is understood that, with the exception of a few minor details, the plans are already perfected. These details will be attended to by Senor de la Arena on his return to Mexico City. Senor de la Arena will return to Kentucky in September to witness the racing here and at Lexington. He is anxious to secure a good jockey, to ride his sieedy colt, San Roman, in the Mexican Derby to be run in October next. The event will be worth over ,000 in gold this year and, as his colt has beaten all the likely ellgibles to the stake, he regards his chance of winning the big prize as good. T. Uiee is the boy he would like to get. to go to Mexico City to ride the sou of Koommatc. hut if that r rider cannot see Ids way clear to make the trip, he will secure some other jockey equally as efficient.
