JOE LETT, a good. saTe fencer, was a prominent eon tender until in the last quarter, then tired. MYSTIC LIGHT ran poorly throughout and may have- trained olf. DIRECT bolted at the ninth jump, but finished the course. HAMILTON ran well and wore the tiring ROD AND GUN down in the homestretch and outgamed her at the end. The latter ran in closest pursuit to the stretch, but failed to stay. SIR JOHN JOHNSON showed speed, but was also cut off on the far turn and did not recover.
