GOSSIP FROM KENTUCKY SOURCES. Louisville, Ky., August 14. The trainers at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park are now at work in earnest with their horses. Wijh the opening day of fall racing in Kentucky only alout a month away, every day will now be utilized in getting the horses in condition. About the fastest work at either of the two tracks yesterday were quarters around 25 ami 20 and three furlongs in :!9 and 40, by Kamazan. Royal Report, lalcada, Moekler. Iotts Nevins. Any Port, Sebago, Freckle, Danger Mark, Sauce, Plutocrat, King Olympian, Queen .Marguerite, llarrigan, The Reach, Cash on Delivery and Tommie Thompson. There is at present no sickness in any of the barns at Churchill Downs or Douglas Park. Trainer W. IT. Iizer has brought Ed Alveys Pink-ola to Churchill Downs from the farm, and this good horse is once more in training. The son of Iink Coat looks good and shows no effects of his recent sickness. Air. Iizer lias added to his stable several two-year-olds shipped to Churchill Downs from liourlxui County, and- trainer John Huffman has had several additions to his string from the same section. The addition to tin; riser string gives that trainer the most pretentous stable here. Felix, a two-year-old brown colt by Alvescol Victoria 1!., which Theodore Abadie bought from George .T. Long, has been gelded, and his new owner hardly expects him to run again until late next October! Abadie now has but four horses in ids string, the smallest number he lias raced for years. lalcada is the only old horse he lias left of his once big string, as his other horses now in training are. like Felix, two-year-olds. They are Tom King and Samuel It. .Mayer. The veteran horseman expects to buy a good horse or two the coining fall, and he may also speculate a bit in the yearling market next month. "1 might get hold of a Worth," said lie. "A man cant get such a colt unless he takes a chance in the yearling lottery." Charles Dills, owner of Robert Ilruce, was at Churchill Downs a day or two ago to secure twenty-one stalls for Wayne . Joplins big string of horses. A division of the .Toplin string has arrived at the Downs from Elizabeth town in charge of Neil En-right, and Mr. Joplin will come from Canada with the rest of tin; stable within the next ten days. The horses Mr. Enright brought to the Downs are Golden Pearl. Agawam, Orena, Eland, Mother, Robert Bruce, Kgglcstine. Little Dutch. Elizabethan, Parkview ami Tony W. -Mr. Joplin lias Naughty Lad and Maezie in Canada with his purchases at Hie Stanford sale, consisting of Granite, Ronnie Eloise. Swarts Hill, Alloha and Cliff Top, which were bought for the Joplin stable by the Australian turfman, Phil Hyanis. W. !. Yanke. owner of Round the World, has ro-turneiK from Chicago and will soon get busy with his big stable, the members of which have been taking a rest at the Downs.
