NOTES OF THE TURF. S. C. Hildreths betting operations in Canada, it Is understood, have not been particularly profitable. William Wheeler and associates have leased the balf-milo track at Lewiston, Idaho, for a ten-days meeting beginning September 12. Former jockey S. Hoidel is galloping Messenger Boy and others of the Lutz horses at Latonia every day, with the idea of resuming riding the coming fall. The appications of Fred J. Brew and W. B. Mitchell " for trainers licenses were laid on the table, as recommended by the license committee at a recent meeting of the stewards of the Jockey Club. Secretary I. S. Mahan of the Oklahoma City Jockey Club was a visitor at Muskogee Monday and reported that work will be begun after the Oklahoma City fall meeting on the transformation of the lialf-mile course at that place into a regulation mile track.
