SPEEDING UP AT LEXINGTON HORSES BEGIN TO SHOW FAST TRIALS AT KENTUCKY ASSOCIATION COURSE. Governor Gray Bitten by Rat or Spider, but Ei-capes Serious Consequences Gossip from Blue Grass Region, Lexington, Ky., September 4. The Kentucky Association track was fast this morning. Among th work-outs that took place were the following: Ethel D. -Three-eighths in 345. Pendant Three-eighths in .!5. Salcsia Five-eighths in 1:04s. Donau, Raleigh P. D., Hanbrldge and several others, three-quarters in about 1:10. Capt. J. T. Williams arrived here from Spring Station this morning and said that J. S. Everman would bring Governor Gray from Latonia on Saturday. Governor Grays stake engagement here is the Phoenix Hotel Fall Handicap, one mile and an eighth, September 10. Captain Williams said that Governor Gray was recently bitten on the mouth by a rat or a spider and was poisoned, but that he la now well over the trouble. Thus far there are eleven entries for tho Autumn Cup Handicap of two and one-quarter miles, which Is the feature of the opening days card. They are: Console. Countless, Fireman, G. M. Miller, John Louis. .Milton B., Naughty Lad, Royal Report, Sir Catesby, Startler and Volthorpc. Weights for thi race are to be announced next Saturday. Superintendent Ross has notified trainers to remove all yearlings from the track by Wednesday.
