NIMBUS, prominent from the start, wore THE NIGGER down while rounding the far turn and, taking the lead in the stretch, drew away and won easing up. GRANITE .began slowly, but steadily improved his position into a fust going second. VENETA STROME finished fast and just managed to get up in time to nose out THE NIGGER for third place. The latter set a fast pace, but was probably short and tired in the stretch lacing. JACK PARKER and WRAP only ran fairly well. CARLTON G. ran in close pursuit of the pacemaker for the first half, then moved up with a rush while rounding the far turn and drew away into a good lead, but was hard ridden at the end to outstay OLAM-RALA. The latter closed up on the outside while going down the backstretch and jwas slowly wearing the winner down at the finish. BUSY closed a big gap and finished with a rush. STAR CHARTER finished fast. SIR JOHN JOHNSON quit after setting a fast pace for six furlongs. ALDRIAN and STARTLER showed early speed, but tired. Scratched 070SlFireman, 103. Overweights Aldrian, 3 pounds; Startler, 1. SISTER FLORENCE was shutlled back while rounding the far turn, but finished fast and outgamed PRINCE CHAP for second place. The latter ran well but tired when it came to the final drive. COMMUNIST closed a big gap. MAD RIVER tired in the stretch YANKEELOTUS ran well for a half and was eased up in the homestretch. Scratched 97997 Onrico, 95; 97997 Alooha, 101. The latter, also suddenly improved, ran forwardly and gamely throughout, but tired in the final sixteenth. SWARTS HILL finished with a rush and outgamed FLYING FOOTSTEPS at the end.
