NOTES OF THE TURF. The Prix Du Velay, run at Enghien, in France, Thursday, was won by J. E. Wideners East River. Jockey W. Mulcahey is at the Mountain Valley Hotel, Hot Springs, Ark., and is in good health again. W. IC. Vanderbilts Polonaise finished second in the Prix du Bac at Maisons-Latlitte, in France, yesterday. John Busch, foreman for Mosc Goldblatt for some years, died at Buffalo. N. Y.. of consumption September S. A subscription by horsemen for his benefit last summer had been exhausted and he died penniless at the Erie County hospital. The layers in line at Coeur dAlene include Henry Freyscnhuusen. W. II. Canning. Gus Blum, Sam Bradley. W. R. Engstrom, Frank Bain, "One-Two-Three .Martin, Joe Rose. John Clancy, Will Hull. W. Armstrong, Barney Boyce, S. A. Clopton and George North. John Myrick, Jr., was yesterday arrested at Los Augeles on a charge of violation of the Walker-Young autl-lKitting law. He is charged with operating a poolroom. It is the first case of tlie kind to develop under the California law and may afford a test of its constitutionality.
