BUTWELL RIDING SUCCESSFULLY ABROAD. James Rutwell, an American jockey who is rid ing in Russia this season, is reputed to have won more than fifty races to date. He had the mount on the winner of the Derby, the Oaks and tke Nicolaivsky Prize. In the latter two races the horses lie rode were disqualified. Roth horses an; owned by Mr. LazarolT, and the disqualification meant a loss of 20,000 rubles. Although Rutwell has had a highly successful season abroad, Jie is not particularly impressed with the general conditions, and is expected to return to this eountry during the winter.
