TRAINING GALLOPS AT LOUISVILLE. Louisville, Ky., September 15. Although the Churchill Downs and Douglas Park courses wero heavy today, many horses Avere worked through the. mud and slush. At the Downs especially all of the horses worked over the center of the track. As a result fast time was impossible. Among the workouts wore the following: Adams Express Three-eighths iu 39 J; looks good. Carlton G. Mile in 2:03. cantering. Casque Half-mile in 55. cantering. Henry Walbank Half mile in 55$; worked -with Veneta Strome. Herldmer Half mile in 53; first three-eighths lit John Pendergrast Quarter mile in 20, handily. Lochiel Quarter mile in 27; worked with Right-easy. Nadzu Mile and a quarter in 2:2GJ; getting ready for Kentucky Endurance Stakes at fonc miles. Pardner Half mile in 55, cantering. Prince Gal Three-eighths in 405, cantering. Recompense Three-eighths in 40, handily. Righteasy Quarter mile in 27, easily. Sebago Three-eighths in 38. Sheriff Nolte Half mile in 55, easily. Sir Marion Three-eighths in 40; worked with Recompense. Tom Hay ward Five-eighths in 1:10, handily. Topland Five-eighths in 1:10. Veneta Strome Half mile in 55J; looks good. Worth Quarter mile in 28; is good. Edward Jasper, acting secretary, today distributed the book of the meeting which opens at the Downs on Monday, September 25. It contains the stako. entries and the conditions of the handicaps and overnight purses for the first six davs. J. B. Respess is not racing at Lexington. He prefers to give his string a rest uutil the season opens here. The Respess racers are at Douglas Park, but stall room is being reserved at the Downs for him. The races at the State Fair ended Fridav. A fair selling plater was developed there in the old horse Hiram. He ran a better six-furlongs over the Fair course than either John Griffin II. or Butter Bali, both of which won there. Hirams time over the half mile track was 1:10. Agawam, in tho string of W. O. Joplin, has broken down as tho result of racing at the State Fair, and will lie turned out until next year unless sold. Several trainers will go to. Lexington early next week to attend the yearling sales. All will lie buyers. One remarked today that the sport could get no worse than it is, and with Kentucky aud Mexican couditions favorable, he had no intention of quitting the turf. II. R. Brandts Angelas and Harrigan aro training well at Douglas Park. The big chestnut son of Plaudit looks lusty and strong, and seemingly is as good as he was at Juarez last winter. Aii-gelus, too, looks good, and apparently has recovered from his soreness. Brandt has two good two-year-olds in Casli on Delivery aud The Reach. This is one stable now in training here which is without surplus material. Another horse training well at Douglas Park is Peter Wimmers three-year-old. Any -Port. Any Port is fancied by his trainer iu his stake engagements, provided the handicapper does not treat him harshly.
