BUSY SCENES AT WOODBINE, Final Preparations Being Made for Opening of Ontario Jockey Clubs Meeting on Saturday. Toronto, Ont., September 20. The numerous arrivals, the training gallops of the horses already stabled and the thousand and one preparations for the opening of the Ontario Jockey Clubs fall meeting make busy and interesting scenes at Woodbine these days. The track is in the best of order, as testified by half-mile gallops faster than In 50 seconds. The steeplechase course, which includes two new Jumps, was open for schooling yesterday, and will also be open tomorrow. The new jumps are a brush fence in the center and a water jump on the back stretch. The brush will be the first jump in the two and one-half miles course. The other obstacle consists of twelve fect of water and a hedge three feet high. The best miles yesterday were by the Valley Farm Stables Denham and Commola. in 1:132, and by J. E. Seagrams Rockville in 1:44. The Valley Farm Stables two-year-old White Caps put in a half mile in 40J, and Rockspring in 50 seconds. Powderman went a mile In 1:44. From the Thorncliile string. Rose Lawrence did three-quarters in 1:18s, Stalmore and Ccsarpeia a half iu 505. Frolic went a mile in 1:47? and Fair Annie in 1:52. Flower Girl did a half iu 40 ami three-quarters in l:10g. Albert Simons sent Emerald Isle and Jawbone a half in 49. while Moisant and Eton Blue did three-quarters in 1:18J. Wrap went in 1:18J and Stilly Night and Lahore in 1:172. llavrock, one of J. E. Seagrams Kings Plate eligible, worked a mile in l:4Si. and Robert Cooper did the same. Theo Cook and the two-year-old Klma reeled off three-eighths in 30t seconds. G. M. Ilendries Steamboat did a half mile in Slit. .Mr. Giddings Ondrainon put in live-eighths In l:03. which was only a fifth of a second slower than My Gals work. The William Garth. G. R. Tompkins, Mrs. L. A. Livingston, E. W. lleffncr. R. T. McKeover, W. G. King-Dodds, J. W. Burttschell, A. G. Blakeley, T. It. Condrau, W. F. Prcsgrave and Beverwyck stable horses were among yesterdays arrivals. Starter Dades assistants are at Woodbine for the purpose of schooling horses at the starting barrier, and trainers are exiiccted to take advantage of their opportunities, so that no unschooled horses shall be sent to the post duriug race week.
