JAMESTOWN DATES ARE CHANGED. Norfolk, Va September 20. Manager Bob Levy of the Jamestown Jockey Club, announces that the fall meeting at that track will open November 2 and continue until November 30. This will mean twenty-live days of racing, and will be the lougest meeting ever held in this section. But for the fact that the laws of Virginia will not permit horse racing during the month of December, the fall meeting at the local track would probably continue until near Christmas. The Norfolk meeting was originally scheduled to open on October 25, but on account of conUicting with Laurel. .Manager Levy decided not to open until November 2. Governor William Hodges Mann is scheduled to recommend to the next legislature the passage of a strong anti-betting bill for Virginia, and it may be that the fall meeting at the local track will be the last one. But that is doubtful. Prohibition and anti-racing sentiment was dealt a hard blow in the Democratic primary on September 7. Several of the strongest agitators for prohibition and those known to be opposed to liberal laws on racing and other sports were defeated. It is highly probable that if the governor attempts to pass an anti-betting bill it will cause the hottest light ever witnessed in the legislative halls of Virginia. The officials announced for the fall meeting at the Norfolk race track are: Ed Cole and Frank .1. Bryan, judges: A. B. Dade, starter; F. W. Gerhardy, secretary and clerk of the course: H. P. Conklin. paddock and patrol nidge; J. II. Smith, clerk of the scales, and George Miller, tinier.
