- PIMLICO MEETING TO OPEN TODAY. Baltimore, Md., October 0. Pimlieo, in a new dress of paint, looks spick and span for tomorrows opening. Many improvements are noted. An addition has been built to the grandstand that extends outward over the track, permitting the stewards to have an unobstructed view of each and every horse as soon as the stretch is readied. An upper deck has been added, which permits the officials to observe all happenings during the running of the steeplechases. In former years, on account of the hilly construction of the infield and the crowds that were wont to gather during the running of a race, their view at times was obstructed. The steeplechase races are expected to be especially attractive. An excellent collection of junipers are here, ready for the fray. S. C. Hildreth has ordered that Puggins, Fitz Herbert and Little Pal, which were left at Sheeps-head Bay when the rest of his stable came south, be shipped here. Decent arrivals include the stables of Thomas Fortuue Itvan, Capt. B. D. Cassatt, Mrs. L. A. Livingston, W. D. Althouse, J. Dowdell, and Frank Bray. There is every indication that the track will be even faster than last year, and that it will be a poor horse that cannot make the mile iu about 1:40. .1. FItzsimmoiis is training Superstition for W. L. Maupin. of Charlottesville. Silas Veltch is training the three-year-old Ariosto. formerly in the stable of Ual Parr, with the object of making a jumper of him.
