ZEUS WINS BOWIE HANDICAP VICTORY MARKS FAREWELL APPEARANCE OF HILDRETH RACER IN AMERICA. With Notable Stable Mates He Is to Go Abroad . Mr and Mrs. Hildreth to Leave for England Coming Saturday. Baltimore, Md., October 23. Pimlicoa fall meeting wound up in a blaze of glory this afternoon. Pleasant racing weather brought out a large attendance and interesting sport was witnessed. The running of the Bowie Handicap, at two miles, attracted much attention. H. G. Bedwell sent the good distance runuer Nadzu over from Laurel and Samuel Ross sent the three-year-old Joe Kenyon from the same place. The race proved easy for S. C. Hil-dreths three-year-old, Zeus, which shouldered 128 pounds and won with consummate ease. Zeus was conceding much weight to the other starters, but he proved more than equal to the task. The race was probably Zeus last appearance on the American turf, as Mr. Hildreth plans to ship his entire string to England at tho next sailing of the Minnehaha, ne has engaged passage for himself and Mrs. Hildreth Saturday from New York. The majority of the horses in the Hildreth establishment will follow him abroad in the first part of next month. Hearthstone. Surfeit and Gold Blade, three of the four Hildreth two-year-olds, will be disposed of in this country. The only one of this age that will bo retained is Puggins, a frequent winner oil the Canadian circuit the past summer. Prlscillian will bo returned to Mr. Belmont. Other than Puggins, Novelty. Fitz Herbert, Restigouche, Shannon, Zeus aud Hampton Court will make up the shipment to England. Jockey Carroll Shilling will go to his homo in Texas for a visit preparatory to joining Mr. Hildreth in England. Dave Leary will have charge of the shipment of the Hildreth racers and will accompany them abroad. The consolation steeplechase brought out a smart lot of jumpers and William M. Manlys L. Navarre beat his opposition in a canter. It was tho first time the colors of Mr. Manly, who la presidents ,o .the Maryland Jockey Club, were carried to victory. L. Navarro was a maiden up to todays race, but he bids fair to develop into a useful fencer. E. F. Condran furnished two of the afternoons winners in Moncreif and Breaker Boy. The former was forced to stand a hard drive to beat Cu Boh, while Breaker Boys victory was easily achieved. Many of the stables racing here will ship direct to Norfolk to await the opening of the meeting at that point. Some few will go to Laurel to finish out that meeting. John Whalen ha3 arranged to ship the Belmont horses to Babylon. L. I., where they will go luto winter quarters. Mr. Belmont has decided not to send his horses south this year. Mrs. L. A. Livingston will send Picolata, Sotemia and Lovctie to Rancocas on Wednesday. The remainder of the horses in this stable were disposed of on Saturday last.
