NO EXTENSION AT COEUR DALENE. Spokane, Wash., October 23. The last week of the Coeur dAlene meeting began today. The racing, considering the class of the contestants, was all that could be desired, and although the favorites fared poorly, the different races were keenly contested and close finishes occurred In nearly evory instance. A. J. Jackson has sold Fern L. to N. H. MeKar J of Portland for 00. A petition signed by horsemen, bookmakers and turf followers was circulated today asking for a ten-day extension of tho meeting, but the management declined to consider it. taking the stand that the thirty-six days would be sufficiently long for a new locality.
