LATONIA PURSES TO BE REDUCED. Lexington. Ky., October 2S. At a special meet ing of the Kentucky State itaclng Commission held here today a. resolution was adopted uuder which the Latonia Jockey Club is privileged io give purser of the minimum of ?400 instead of 00 for the remaining two weeks of the fall meeting. Chairman E. F. Clay and .Messrs. Milton Young, F. A. Daiu gcriield and George J. Long were the members present and voting. They were addressed by president Harvey Meyers- and general manager John Ilach-meistcr. who made application for the reduction and dtelarcd that the Latonia association could not. uu- der existing conditions, possibly stand the tax of 00 purses. They made it plain that if thev were not allowed a reduction in the face of a further possibility of inclement weather, the meeting could not go on. The appointment of Dr. J. 0. Phelps as veterinary surgeon for the Latonia meeting was approved. Section .! of rulo 7 was amended by striking therefrom the word "present" in the third line thereof so that It shall read: "Any rulo adopted may be changed or amended by a majority of the full board and after thirty SO days notice in writing or such proposed change or amendment has been given to each member of the commission." The commission declined to reopen the case of W. C. Daly, who was ruled off along with his brother. M. J. Daly, because of the jockey Wrispen affair.
