MAT DIVIDE -WINTER DATES REPORT OF NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN HAVANA AND CHARLESTON MANAGEMENTS, Saser and Idleweiss Run Dead Heat at Norfolk Track and Purse Is Divided More Horses Needed to Till Racing Program Properly. Norfolk, Va., Novemlier 7. Keen sport was provided at the Jamestown Jockey Clubs course this afternoon. The llrst dead heat during the regime of the present management eaino with the running of the feature race, in which Idleweiss and Sager finished so close together that the judges were unable to separate them. There were only three starters in this race, which was at one mile and an eighth, and Beaueoup was made an odds-on favorite. His well known liking for heavy going earned him many supporters and his showing was keenly disappointing to his trainer, Thomas Ilealey. who looked to see him win easily. Heaueoup is not a front runner and instructions were given MeCahey to reserve him during the early running. This the lad attempted to do, but the horse was so full of a desire to run that he kept fighting for his head and MeCahey permitted him U set the pace under a pull. The purse was split, the owners of Idleweiss and Sager deciding that It would be unwise to again run their horses a mile and an eighth with the track conditions getting worse as the afternoon progressed. Favorites won the llrst and sixth races, the successful choices being Bon 1-oyal and Michael Angelo. Hen Loyal showed a great Uight of speed iu the sloppy going, running six furlongs in 1:14. This horse Is "one of the best mud runners here. The defeat of Chryseis was another of the afternoons surprises. The liily was ridden by jockey Butwell. and during the running of the race, the latter was taken sick ami all hut tell off the liily. Butwell took oil six pounds in tiie baths last night to make weight to ride Chryseis, and the effort proved too muck. The winner, Ktuu- Blue, showed good speed and the fact that she had outworked Lahore this morning was. responsible for strong support from the work watchers. The management announced this afternoon that they were still able to accommodate about 100 more horses and owners at Latonia and Marlboro wishing to ship here should communicate with Secretary Gerhardy. . There is a possibility that the management, of the1 Havana and Charleston tracks may come to au agreement to split dales during the coming winter. It is understood that plans are now under way to perfect such an arrangement and an announcement to that effect may be made within a few days.
