MEXICAN RACING PROSPECTS CONTINUE GOOD. Patrons of Sport in Mexican Capital Readily Taking, to Amorican Method of Bookmaking. Mexico City, Mux., November 3. An excellent attendance marked the second day of the fall lace meeting here this afternoon. The weather was all that could he desired, and the races were run off smoothly, with close finishes and good starts. The public are gradually becoming accustomed to the American method of liookinakiug anil wagered their money on their choices witli much enthusiasm. The principal event of the day was the Criterion Stakes for two-year-old fillies foaled in .Mexico, which was won by the Amor Brothers entry, Madre-perla. This liily probably will lo one of the favor-ites for the third Mexican Derby, to be run next year. One of the features of the day was the magnificent performance of W. G. Yanken Round the World, which witli an impost of 127 pounds, conceding much weight to good horses, won iu the last hundred vards in a driving finish from Oakland, which was in excellent form. In the other races Jim Basey. Marzo, Miss Korn and John Louis took first money. Colonel Winn and his associates are immensely Pleased with the patronage accorded the races, and anticipate a bright future for the sport in this republic. Apropos of the report printed recently in an El Paso paper to the effect that Governor Gonzales of Cbikauhua contemplated preventing the running of races or the making of hooks at the Juarez track, the governor has authorized the use of his name in connection with a Hat denial of the statement credited to him. Governor Gonzales has written Colonel Winn a letter in which he takes occasion to remark that, on the contrary, he is an enthusiastic follower of turf events himself, and that ho will do all in his power to encourage and promote what he con skiers the finest sport on the globe. Mexico City, Mex., November 2. Decision of the racing card scheduled for today at the Condesa track was postponed until Saturday, because the officials, of the Mexican Jockey Club were fearful that if their turf course should be used for racing during the heavy rain which prevailed all day, it would be badly cut up. Todays card will be run off on Saturday and Sundays program will lie in accordance with the provisions of the book for that day. A new card will lie prepared for next Tuesday to recompense for todays postponement.
