DETAILS OF COLUMBIA MEETING. Washington, D. C.. November S. Plans for the prpjiosod meeting at Columbia. S. C, under the management Of Arthur N. Elrod. are maturing. -The meeting will be given over the mile track of the South Carolina State Fair Association, which is well equipped for the purpose. It is ii course with good turns and wide stretches. The grandstand is of tin: same capacity as that at Jamestown. There arc 350 stalls now ready for horses "and the management is preparing to build 300 additional. The purses will be liberal and as there will be no stakes a sufficient number of oVcr-uight handicaps will be provided to replace them. Racing will begin Thanksgiving Day and continue for thirty-three days, or until January 0, which is just before the opening of the Charleston meeting. The ring, which will be an open one, will be run on the" old New York system. Tho management of the Columbia meeting lias selected James Milton to do the starting and Hart Dernham will be the racing secretary.
