STAR CHARTERS STAKES SCHORR THREE-YEAR-OLD WINS ENDURANCE HANDICAP AT LATONIA. Kentucky Racing Season of 1911 Auspiciously Comes to Close Azyiade Changes Hands and Win3 for H, C. Kallenbock. Cincinnati, O., November 11. The Kentucky rac-" ing season of 1911 terminated with the running oC-tlie closing race at Latonia this afternoon. Getaway day brought out the biggest crowd that has witnessed the racing here this fail, and this in spite ot unfavorable weather, witli a downpour threatening. One of the best offerings in a racing way in, a long time was provided by Secretary Maglnn for the occasion. The Latonia Endurance Stakes at two miles, carrying with it a not value of S2.2S0, waa the stellar attraction, but the handicaps that pro-ceded and followed it also came in for a goodly amount of interest. Betting throughout tho day was of record proportions. John W. Schorrs Star Charter, coupled with John Rcardon, the latter an eleventh-hour added starter,, scored in the feature raee over Governor Gray In decisive fashion, John Rcardon taking third money., The winner, admirably handled, remained elose to the leaders from the start under restraint, and stolo. iuto a good lead just before tho final quarter was begun. He easily held Governor Gray safe during, the stretch drive. Governor Gray ran in close proximity to the early pacemakers, but just when it was expected he would draw away, he had to bo hard ridden to outstay John Rcardon. Azo was close up at the finish, but Cherryola and High Private tired badly after going a mile and a quarter. Prior to this they had alternated in the lead. Stone Streot was a hopeless trailer from the start and was pulled up in the last half mile. Meridian shouldered 120 pounds in the mile and one-sixteenth handicap and scored Impressively over good opposition with Leamence In second place and Tom Bigbee third. There was some dissent from the judges action in placing Leamence and Tom Bigbee in advance of -Edda. Tho consistent Azyiade, which has scored a remarkable succession of victories this fall, again made good in fine style- when she beat Froglegs and Kaiser iu the six furlongs handicap. She ran in the interest of H. C. Hallenbeck, who acquired her this morning, together with Sir Deurah, on privatcterms from Lon Jones. The consideration for the pair is said to have been S5.000. The closing race was run in darkness and it was difficult to distinguish the colors of the horses during some periods of the running. Mockler, which has shown himself to be a sturdily constituted racer, made good by the narrowest kind of margin over G. M. Miller, with Effendi third, and John Furlong, the favorite, a distant trailer. Three Links enabled T. P Hayes to take a purse when ho beat a good band of youngsters in the opening dash, Winning Widow showed her best form and outstayed some good sprinters that started in the second race. Tho judges yesterday mado a ruling in the Joe Deibold case, awarding the horse to L. V. Bellow. The latter claimed the horse out of a selling race on Thursday last, but the owner, G. H. Whitney, lodged objection to tho claim on the ground of imperfect registration. The horse Bill Todd is joiutlv owned by C. A. Thornton and L. V. Bellew and was run iu the name of the former. Rule 143 states that hors.os may be claimed by the owners of other horses in the race and upon the affidavit of Mr. Bellew that lie owned a half Interest in Bill Todd, the judges decided that his claim was valid. Mr. Whitney lias appealed from this decision to tho Kentucky State Racing Commission on the ground that 0. A. Thorntons name does not appear on the registration slip in the secretarys oflico. Secretary Jasper of the Juarez course, who has been here in the interest of his track, will leave on Monday for El Paso to take up his duties preliminary to the opening of the Juarez meeting. A published report that the Havana track would not be opened for racing this winter is characterized as without foundation In fact by W. W. Lyle. who Is here in the interest of the Cuban meeting. A change has been made in the routing of the shipments from here to Havana. Instead of sending tho special via New Orleaus, as intended, it has now been decided to ship the horses and passengers via Norfolk, whenco two steamers will transport tho consignments to navana. Tho first stuainer is announced to start November 23. Jockey Eddie Dugan left tonight for New York to complete final arrangements to enter Baron Rothschilds employ and ride next season In Germany. Dugans contract calls for a retaining fee of SS.OOO annually and expenses. Baron Rothschild has the option of renewing tho contract the next season at 0,000. Dugan is at present under contract to August Belmont, but the latter has given the rider permission to contract with Baron Rothschild. Dugan will make au effort to secure Baron Rothschilds consent to remain in America this winter and ride for R. F. Carman, reporting in Germany next spring. Sain and Jack Atkiu, the two sires intended for stud service at E. R. Bradleys Idle Hour Farm, arrived today from Barney Schreibers Woodlanda Farm In Missouri and will bo transferred to Lexington tomorrow. T. Shannon and Luke Lo Blond will send their horses to Cuba. Jockey C. Turner will accompany the consignment. There was a rumor this afternoon that a new track in close proximity to Latonia would bo built next season. The rumor had it that U. I. Brown, was behind the move and that he would demand a division of the racing dates. C. A. Tilles. the principal owner of Latonia track, and General Manager John Ilachmeister, both scouted the Idea of anothar track being built and made the suggestion that the Latonia track was for sale and could be acquired by anybody anxious to operate a race track hereabouts. The horses of h. P. Doerhocfer and George J. Long were put on the cars yesterday and sent to Louisville, where they will go Into winter juartors. Henderson and Hocan have deeideo" to ship on the Juarez special J. H. Reed, Acguln. Bredwell and four other horses, in charge of J. T. Ireland. Memlters of the Latonia office staff who will go on the Juarez special are Roy Dillard. I. Drossen, Charles Burgess, Eddie Traynor aud Clarenco Price. James Osborne, one of starter Cassldya assistants, will also lw a passenger on tho train.
