MINISTERS BUSY IN SOUTH CAROLINA. Charleston, S. C, November 23. Further action on the part of local clergymen against the establishment of racing here was taken yesterday when the Ministerial Union at its regular meeting appointed a committee to draft a memorial urging three of the most influential religious bodies of the state to use their influence to secure legislation which would render local racing impossible. Yestorday also the Ministerial Association of Columbia placed itself on record as condemning emphatically the holding of horso races at Charleston or at the State Fair, or at any other place In South Carolina and calling upon the Legislature to take such action as shall prevent racing in this state. The local Ministerial Union passed a resolution appointing a committee to prepare a memorial to bo presented to the Episcopal Convention of Sunday-school Teachers, the Methodist Conference and the Baptist Convention, asking those bodies to use their efforts to secure anti-racing legislation. Meanwhile tho big racing plant Is being built. A large force of laborers and many teams of mules are at work on the grounds, and preparations are bolng rushed for the opening of the race meeting in January
