The race in its early stages was closely contested, but ended with the field well strung out. The Marques winning by eight lengths, Wiggins securing second place by two lengths and Alerta taking third by a margin of eight lengths over Shooting Star. W. G. The meeting which closed todav was. on the whole, successful. It has unqucstioiiablv stimulated interest In the thoroughbred more than any other agency heretofore, and while the financial results were not as satisfactory as they might have been, the influence of this meeting on the future of racing in Mexico will be far reaching and will bear fruit in the immediate future.
